Boy Scout Troop 13 has cranked it out every day in a big way with sailing, snorkeling, beaching, hiking, exploring, eating, and even swimming with a pod of dolphin in the wild! Enjoy their adventures.
All kinds of great snorkeling from two dives on Sandy Cay Reef (I think the best reef in the Abacos), a drift dive at Iron Cay, and two different blue hole dives!
These guys became a great sailing crew!
Beaching and exploring
We got 2 beautiful queen conch. Captain Thomas showed us how to clean them and then we got to eat the conch meat. What does it taste like??
Hanging the hammocks to get ready for a good night’s sleep
Off to do the drift dive and the blue holes at Iron Cay. Have fun ~
Hanging out with my Dad and my buddies on Ciganka is the BEST!
It was impossible to capture in pictures what was happening. We had a pod of about 12 dolphin we saw in the distance so we slowly motored Ciganka over to where they seemed to be playing together. As we got close they all came right up to the bow of the boat and swam right at the bow darting in and out from each side. They seemed to be looking up at us and enjoying us and much as we were them. We finally turned off the motor just to have it quiet while they continued to play right off the boat. Captain Thomas say he thinks we should get in and swim with them. So about 8 of the Scouts grabbed their snorkel gear and started to swim toward the pod of dolphins. They did not seem to mind at all. Henry and Oscar got within about feet of them! But all the Scouts could watch them under water and hear the sounds they made. What an amazing experience and a “1st” on Ciganka!
Stay tuned – More to come….
