Mother Nature is throwing us some curve balls
Sorry I have not posted in two days but we have been anchored in 2 different spots that have no Internet I can connect to. We have been on the “out back” of the islands. Sooooo – what have we been up to you may be asking?? Not sure if you have been monitoring the weather but we have had a strong low pressure system that has formed and been churning off the east cost of Florida. It has slowly made its way over us. Then of course Tropical storm Bertha has been churning off east of us, luckily not too close That has put us right between the two “lows”. So what that has meant to us is never a dull moment in the weather department! It has delivered a lot of unsettled weather and in an instant it will change from calm winds and sunny skies to 25 to 35 knots of wind and rain. It has kept us on our toes and laughing because what we think we are going to do as an activity has changed by the moment in according to what Mother Nature is throwing at us. I apologies that I have not gotten pictures of the bad weather because I am usually too busy at that moment helping get the sails down or battening down the hatches. We have definitely had some great high adventures the crew is working together well.
Sunday the morning was clear and the wind light so we sailed over to the ocean side of Bakers Bay and got to enjoy the most beautiful beach in all of the Abacos. Check out the color of the water!
A squall chased us out of there to find a secure anchorage. After dinner the Captain took all the fishermen off to catch fish. They came home with a few that we will put on the grill for super tomorrow.
Now you get to see our sailing skills. We started out with about 10 knots of wind and by the time we reached our destination it was blowing 25 knots and starting to rain. It was an exhilarating sail and took quite a bit of effort to get the sail down in those conditions.
Enjoying some fishin’ & relaxin’
Off to explore Hope Town this afternoon to climb the lighthouse, eat ice-cream, and enjoy having their feet on the ground for a little while ~
