This is our 3rd adventure with Troop 17 running as a 2 boat trip. They arrived with 35 enthusiastic Scouts and Leaders ready to experience another high adventure sailing excursion with half the crew on Ciganka and half the crew on Shearwater run by Captain Bruce. As you can imagine this situation comes with its own level of competitiveness, jeering, one up-ing, and plain good fun!
Ciganka’s crew is becoming a fine sailing machine with an insanely great sailing competition against Shearwater this morning. Ciganka pulled out all the tricks out of her bag to keep Shearwater slightly behind us for most of the sail. Please make sure the crew shares this in detail with everyone back at home. Our Ciganka crew did us proud and we all had a blast!
We have gotten in a 3 hours Iron Cay drift dive where the crew found 3 mature Queen conch. Captain Thomas showed the crew how to clean them and “Admiral” Linda will make a conch spaghetti with them tomorrow night. The Sandy Cay reef dive was so spectacular our crew did the dive twice. They snorkeled it Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning seeing all kinds of amazing things such as 15 spotted eagle rays swimming (flying) in a group, sharks, barracudas, turtles, yellow fin snappers, big groupers, all the varieties of parrot fish, sting rays, all the reef fish and a mature and healthy coral reef!
