He is one impressive young man!

The last full day of our spectacular week together on Ciganka in the Bahamas!  Cranked it out to the very end.  We sailed full sail through the Marsh Harbour anchorage tacking between the boats at anchor with the winds blowing about 18 knots right to anchor without our engine! This crew is amazing!!

Congratulations to Evan, our “Conch Award of Excellence” recipient!  What an impressive young man in everything he does!!

So much to do….great sailing, amazing snorkeling, getting lobsters, getting conch, finding sea glass, beaching, eating delicious food, learning knots, learning how to run a 78 ft. sailing ship, seeing falling stars at night….. oh and laughing a lot!!

Seriously we have gone none stop from sunrise to sunset.  Great breakfast with French toast, hot cinnamon apples, sausage, fresh cut oranges and apples, and OJ!  Needed fuel for the day.  The day began with an amazing drift dive at Iron Cay where the crew got one conch and one lobster.  Then we had our

Everyone arrived safe and sound.  We had time for a great snorkel on Mermaid Reef, delicious homemade dinner of roast beef, gravy, roasted vegetables, and chocolate cake, and then getting your spot on deck for your hammock or sleeping pad.  I think the crew will sleep well tonight ~

This was a week of transformation in a BIG way!  They all felt it, they all understood it, they all did it!  THAT is why we do what we do.  So unbelievably proud of Troop 468 – Pearland, TX!!  There are no other words ~

We finally got the wind!!  This summer has been quiet in respect to the amount of wind we have had for sailing.  But this week it was nice and windy every day so that meant for great sailing on Ciganka!  And honestly, this crew came together very quickly in respect to learning their positions and

These guys have become a well oiled sailing machine.  And they became conch hunters finding 3 Queen conch that the Captain showed them how to clean them “Admiral” Linda cooked them for dinner that night!  Always somethin’ fun goin’ on ~

More snorkeling, a hike on Man-O-War, and a drift dive off of Tilloo Cay

We welcome aboard Venturing Crew 685 on Sailing Ship Ciganka in the Bahamas!  The whole crew did great on their first snorkel.  They were hungry from a long day of travel and enjoyed the roast beef and gravy dinner complete with chocolate cake.  Then starting to settle in their sleeping spots for the night.  I

The Captain and I would like to thank this fun, courteous, committed and focused group that truly excelled in every aspect of running our sailing ship!  The North Carolina gracious and courteous attitude prevailed as they kicked butt all week long.  What an absolute pleasure to be a part of.  And thank you Craig Murray

The amazing Venturing Crew 2235 has gotten sailing down to a fine art.  They are kicking it in high gear.  Mr. Craig found a mature Queen Conch so Captain Thomas gives a conch cleaning lesson and then everyone got to taste the fresh conch meat.  Most of them really liked it!  Then off to explore
